Pettit Kohn Associates Named Young Attorneys in the San Diego Daily Transcript

December 22, 2011, Pettit Kohn is proud to announce associates Jenna Leyton and Tyler Theobald were recognized by The Daily Transcript as Young Attorneys in San Diego for 2011. Both Jenna and Tyler were named finalist in the practicing 3-5 years category. In addition, Valerie Garcia Hong and Robert Ortiz were also nominated for the award.

For the fifth year The Daily Transcript has recognized San Diego’s up-and-coming lawyers. Each year new attorneys with seven years of experience or less are selected through a peer nominated process and then judged by an independent panel of legal experts. The finalists all display characteristics of being hard working, knowledgeable, enthusiastic, ethical and professional and committed to furthering the interests of justice in society. Pettit Kohn Receives “Workplace Excellence” Medallion Award for the 2nd Year

Pettit Kohn Ingrassia & Lutz, a civil litigation law firm with offices in San Diego and Los Angeles, is excited to announce it has received its second Medallion Award from the San Diego Society for Human Resource Management (SD SHRM). On November 9, 2011, SD SHRM members and guests gathered at the Manchester Grand Hyatt for the Workplace Excellence Awards Gala where the firm was honored with the Medallion Award.

Founding Shareholder and co-leader of Pettit Kohn Ingrassia & Lutz’s Employment & Labor Division, Tom Ingrassia, was on hand to receive this award. “We have an incredible team. Nominations can only be made by employees and awards are determined based upon a comprehensive application and screening process, conducted by business leaders throughout San Diego.

In addition to the Medallion Award, Pettit Kohn was recently ranked on San Diego Business Journal’s annual list of 100 Fastest-Growing Private Companies for 2011.

Pettit Kohn Named to the 100 Fastest-Growing Private Companies List

Pettit Kohn Ingrassia & Lutz is proud to be included in the San Diego Business Journal’s annual list of 100 Fastest Growing Private Companies, and was the only law firm to receive this distinction. On September 29, 2011, award winners and guests gathered at a private reception hosted by the San Diego Business Journal, where Pettit Kohn was honored with a plaque of recognition. Pettit Kohn’s CEO, Andrew Kohn expressed his appreciation of this award, “opportunities and recognition like this flow from our commitment to deliver the highest quality work and outstanding results to our clients, and the investments each of us make daily to work together to create a great team and work environment.”

Each year, the San Diego Business Journal researches and publishes the List of Fastest-Growing Private Companies in the San Diego area. Ranking is based solely on generated revenues from 2008 through 2010. The annual publication is a barometer of the business environment and the challenges of the local, national and global economy. The list of the region’s top emerging growth companies have been revealed in a special publication on October 3, 2011.

Douglas Pettit is a founding shareholder of the firm’s Business Litigation group. Doug has extensive trial and litigation experience in the areas of professional liability and civil litigation. He represents clients in a variety of areas including business litigation, professional liability, personal injury, healthcare, and product liability. In June, Doug received additional recognition as a finalist for the San Diego Daily Transcript’s Top Attorneys award. He ranked in as one of the top 10 finalists for Insurance practice.

Thomas Ingrassia is a founding shareholder and co-chair of the firm’s Employment & Labor group. Among the best and brightest were Pettit Kohn’s very own Jeff Miyamoto and Mark Cumba. The peer-nominated process started in March and included 14 categories. Pettit Kohn Attorneys Named to Super Lawyers and Rising Stars Lists

Pettit Kohn is pleased to announce that four of the firm’s attorneys have been selected for inclusion in both the Super Lawyers and Rising Stars lists for 2010. Doug Pettit and Tom Ingrassia were included in the San Diego Super Lawyers list and Grant Waterkotte and Martin Moreno were selected for inclusion in the Southern California Rising Stars list. In addition to the prestigious recognition as Super Lawyers, Doug Pettit was ranked in the “Top 50” Super Lawyers for San Diego.

Super Lawyers selects attorneys using a rigorous, multiphase process. Peer nominations and evaluations are combined with third party research. Each candidate is evaluated on 12 indicators of peer recognition and professional achievement. Five percent of the total lawyers in California are selected for inclusion in Super Lawyers.

To be eligible for inclusion in Rising Stars, a candidate must be either 40 years old or younger or in practice for ten years or less. While up to five percent of the lawyers in the state are named to Super Lawyers, no more than 2.5 percent are named to the Rising Stars list.
