Valerie Garcia Hong joins Pan Asian Lawyers of San Diego (PALSD) and Filipino American Lawyers of San Diego (FALSD), to speak on the panel, “Hanging Up Your Own Shingle,” which will provide advice on going into solo practice and tips on avoiding legal malpractice. Additional panelist include: Christopher Macaraeg, Esq., Doreen Erenea, Esq., and moderated by Ariel Javier, Esq.

On Wednesday, January 25, 2012, employment law attorney Jenna Leyton will be a featured speaker at San Diego Society for Human Resource Management’s (SD SHRM) North Coast – Legal Update.

Jenna is an associate of Pettit Kohn’s Employment & Labor practice and is also a co-founder of the firm’s Appellate practice group. Jenna represents business entities in all aspects of employment litigation, including defense of claims involving discrimination, retaliation, harassment, wrongful termination, wage and hour disputes and trade misappropriation. She also provides counseling to employers on a variety of day-to-day employment matters, and she routinely lectures on employment law trends and developments at human resource seminars. Most recently, Jenna was awarded San Diego Daily Transcript’s Young Attorneys award.

The legal update will provide members of SD SHRM’s North Coast Chapter a condensed review of the Law Day Conference held on January 18, 2012. Topics include: confidentiality/non-compete agreements, discrimination, wage and hour, and legislative updates. The two-hour presentaion will offer human resource professionals what they need to know for 2012.

Pettit Kohn Supports Dress for Success-San Diego

Pettit Kohn Ingrassia & Lutz PC in partnership with Filipino American Lawyers of San Diego (FALSD) organized a Suit Drive in July benefiting Dress for Success – San Diego, an international not-for-profit organization offering services designed to help disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support and career development tools. Pettit Kohn attorney Valerie Garcia Hong teamed up with FALSD to collect over three dozen business suits and over fifty separates, including slacks, jackets, dresses, shoes, and purses.

Pettit Kohn to Host Suit Drive to Benefit Local Women – July 18-22, 2011

Pettit Kohn Ingrassia & Lutz and co-sponsor Filipino American Lawyers of San Diego (FALSD) will host a suit drive to benefit Dress for Success San Diego, a non-profit organization that provides interview appropriate attire, job retention programs and life management consultation to low income women striving for economic self-sufficiency. All donations are tax deductible.

Dress for Success San Diego can only accept conservative women’s suits with current design lines, in clean, ready to wear condition. If you would feel comfortable wearing the suit to a job interview, then a deserving Dress for Success client would welcome the donation. They also appreciate donations of new or excellent condition business appropriate costume jewelry (earring, bracelets, necklaces, watches, brooches), scarves, or belts, new (unopened, original packaging) hosiery, cosmetics, shampoo and skin care products.
