The Pettit Kohn Ingrassia & Lutz PC team has partnered with American Forests to plant 1000 trees in California and throughout the United States. American Forests is a world leader in planting trees for environmental restoration, a pioneer in the science and practice of urban forestry, and a primary communicator of the benefits of trees and forests.

On November 19, 2009, Pettit Kohn Ingrassia & Lutz PC proudly sponsored a fundraiser for Dress for Success San Diego, a non-profit event that empowers disadvantaged women for economic independence. Pettit Kohn attorney Valerie Garcia Hong is personally involved with this group, helping many women from local shelters return to the work force. During this event, services such as free business clothing, networking, resume building, career training are offered. 100% of the proceeds went to the organization.

For the second year Pettit Kohn Ingrassia & Lutz PC is proud to sponsor the Torrey Pines HS Mock Trial Team. The Torrey Pines HS Mock Trial Team is part of the larger San Diego County Mock Trial Competition Program, which offers a statewide academic competition in which high school students compete at the county, state and national level.
During the trial, students have the opportunity to portray various courtroom characters as the stage is set for a criminal case. Students participate as lawyers, witnesses, court clerks, and bailiffs, thus acquiring a working knowledge of our judicial system. The Mock Trial Competition Program encourages young people to develop their analytical abilities and communication skills while gaining increased self-confidence. PettitKohn is proud to be a part of the education opportunities offered to young students, particularly in the field of law.

The 12th annual gala “An Evening in La Jolla” raises funds on behalf of the San Diego County Bar Foundation to continue to ensure that domestic violence victims, foster children and at-risk youth, the elderly, the sick and disabled, and immigrants have access to legal services and a legal system.

For nearly 40 years, the CWL serves as the largest women’s bar association in the country and provides the voice for women lawyers throughout California, which strives for the highest values and principles of the legal profession and professional women lawyers. Pettit Kohn is a proud supporter of the Back 9 Organization. Attorneys Tyler Theobald and Jeff Boman participated in the 1st Annual Golf Tournament, which was held to raise funds for our San Diego community.

Team captain and Pettit Kohn attorney Jenna Leyton, along with several Pettit Kohn team members, rallied in Downtown San Diego to raise awareness and support the fight against cancer at the American Cancer’s Society’s Relay for Life. It was a huge success, earning well over $70,000 (compared to last year’s $18,000), and would not have been possible without the enthusiasm and support of all its participants and donors.

Since 1998, Dress for Success San Diego focuses on helping low income women acquire jobs, build careers and improve the quality of life for their families. Through their private boutique this organization has served over 6000 women, assisting with wardrobe and interview preparation services, employment retention programs and life management consultation. Led by attorney Valerie Hong, Pettit Kohn was able to contribute many suits and accessories to this worthwhile cause.
